NW 185th in Washington County, Oregon is where Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Aloha meet. Once upon a time a sleepy rural road, it's now a busy commercial street filled with big box stores, corporate chains, and small business. Along its path, 185th morphs from rural to commercial to suburban and then back to quiet park-like neighborhoods. New and old collide, with remants of the past unsure of its future.
With Portland's gentrification, 185th is taking on more of an urban feel in regards to its people - particularly around Cornell and 185th - as outward growth continues to mesh with the suburban and an increased range of diverse working people find a new home within PDX Metro.
Most photographs are digital, with several being film. At the moment, street photography of people is candid for the purposes of documentary work.
This is an ongoing project, with the goal of eventually shooting street portraits of local residents and working population. If you live or work around the area and use NW 185th frequently, and would like to be photographed, please contact me.
